How To Make Localhost with XAMPP

To start learning to make their own website with drupal or just want to make a web offline as a backup of your blog, first you need is support hosting server or the local (localhost). Localhost is needed not only will provide a place for the files to your site, but also run scripts via php and mysql databases. Drupal which is one of the most powerful CMS or rather framework, also requires that the server can run php and mysql scripts.

With this localhost, you do not have to worry about rent hosting, domain rent or fees to access the Internet when you’re building your site. Your site will be done offline on your own computer, and if you’re ready, you can rent hosting and domain for your site can be accessed by Internet users around the world.

One of the software used to create localhost called XAMPP. XAMPP Through this, your computer will be equipped with a fairly complete package as a condition to be able to build a site via localhost, and that especially is all you need is a php, apache server, and mysql. XAMPP package is well integrated, you can simply download the file and then install your computer. I created the following guidelines for your computer using windows.

Package Contents XAMPP version 1.7.2 for Windows

* Apache 2.2.12 (IPv6 enabled) + OpenSSL 0.9.8k
* MySQL 5.1.37 + PBXT engine
* PHP 5.3.0
* PhpMyAdmin 3.2.0.1
* Webalizer 2.21-02 + GeoIP lite
* FileZilla FTP Server 0.9.32
* Msmtp 1.4.17

To look around the intended XAMPP Windows OS, you can see through http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html. XAMPP is also provided for other operating systems like Linux, Mac OS X up to Solaris.

XAMPP Installation Guide:

Download XAMPP version of Windows in

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html
Find table XAMPP packacge basic parts like the picture on the side. Best option. EXE.

The latest version can be downloaded at the following link (if published the latest version, the link below will be lost / changed.

http://www.apachefriends.org/download.php?xampp-win32-1.7.2.exe

Provider recommended XAMPP, new users are advised to use the XAMPP package basis. I chose that. EXE for this package is the easiest to install, you just run the file. EXE

Step by step during the installation:

After running the file xampp-win32-1.7.2.exe, you will be faced with a choice of language you use. Select English

The second step will appear asking to close all display other applications before installing XAMPP. You can also complied or not does not matter, as long as not too many computer applications that you run, so do not make you confused or slow your computer because of the large computer memory is used.

The next window that appears is the selection of place/location XAMPP files. I recommend it as the default in c:\xampp. Do not be put into the folder “Program Files” ( “C:\Program Files”), due to the existence of a folder permissions issue.

The next window will bring up the installation settings. For convenience, you check all the options so that the installed package will complete enough.

* Create a desktop icon XAMPP -> will display the XAMPP icon on your computer desktop pages
* Create an Apache Friends XAMPP folder in the start menu -> will create XAMPP folder accessible from your windows start menu
* Service will install section for the three services/service is needed, please check all.

Installation process is running, wait until the end. For the record, the image that I use is XAMPP version 1.7.0, but in fact the installation process is not much different since the version is still quite close.

Initial installation is complete, press the Finish button. Wait for the next step.

Installation files is complete, please select the Yes button to start the XAMPP Control Panel

After finishing all, press the Finish button. If everything smoothly, congratulations, you’ve managed to install XAMPP and you’re ready to use localhost for web-making activities.
